TRUTH ABOUT BRAS: Freeing your nips could help you live longer, with medical anthropologist, Syd Singer.

What if I told you that you could significantly decrease your risk of disease, simply by the clothes that you choose to wear? I’m confident that today’s episode is literally going to save lives. Today I interview Applied medical anthropologist, Sydney Ross Singer, who is going to blow your beautiful mind.

Sydney studies how culture, society + lifestyle contributes to chronic disease. In this case, specifically breast cancer. This topic is very close to my heart (no pun intended) because when I was 14 my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Her story is a primary reason why I choose to teach people about disease prevention every day. I take this topic very very seriously. That is…Boobs. Yes, today is all about boobs and how we can all keep them healthy and hopefully cancer free! Today we dive into:

  • What is applied medical anthropology?
  • The hidden animal experimentation that drove Sydney out of medical school
  • Sydney + wife discover a lump in her breast, which leads to his work today
  • What the red marks after bra-wearing actually means
  • You take off your bra and feel a huge relief: whats happening in the body?
  • Breast cancer rates for bra-free women
  • Societal pressures of women and bras
  • New attitudes around bras in society
  • The dark side of the breast cancer industry
  • What garments are safe to wear
  • The importance of natural, uninhibited movements for breasts
  • Exercising w/out a bra
  • Breast reduction or bra reduction?
  • How to avoid being a cultural pawn for economic gain

About the Podcast

The Medicin
Healthy relationship supported by healthy body / mind / spirit
The Medicin is all about creating deep, healthy, passionate love - with your partner AND yourself. They are not separate. We know from direct experience.

We (Mimi + Chase) were childhood sweethearts, married in our early 20's, spent 3 yrs of marriage figuring out that we had nothing figured out. In 2016 we actually separated + legally divorced, thinking we'd never see each other again. And after 3 yrs of intense self-development, discovery + personal epiphanies, we organically reunited in 2019 - with a whole new outlook on love, Source + the real Medicins of this life.

Now we are passionate about helping others create fulfilling relationships + lives by digging into the transformation work waiting to happen inside each of us. Healthy relationships start with a healthy YOU, and we are here to help - uncovering + discovering with you.
